Institute of Future Arts - 2022 - Kells, Ireland
For millennia, mankind has been searching for meaning and objective truth. Religion satiated this hunger for thousands of years but the age of enlightenment called this into question, leading to mass feelings of impotence and insignificance.
Today emerging technologies offer new dimensions to our reality and the potential benefits make a digital future seem inevitable. The Future Arts Institute seeks to explore the questions that arise from this paradigm; can we live our lives meaningfully in the digital world? What might we lose by embracing it? How do we define our reality? Such esoteric questions are deeply personal, often disregarded and seldom shared. Our proposal seeks to grant some levity, by encouraging exploration through the arts and creating a social space in which this burden can be shared. In its rediscovered role as a forum for spiritual discussion, the essence of Kells priory remains; this proposal celebrates and builds upon its cultural significance. fff
