Residential - 2024 - Turks and Caicos - Stage 04

Located on the windward coast of Long Bay, Providenciales, Canopy House is a 7,500sqft private residence designed to evoke a "beach-club" grandeur while responding to the island’s easterly trade winds. The architectural language is defined by a rigorous structural logic that branches outward in 8-foot increments, creating expansive overhanging shaded spaces that mimic a forest canopy. My involvement began at the early design stages, where I translated the conceptual "tree" logic into CAD and 3D models. A significant portion of my role involved navigating the project’s unique materiality, which employs a sophisticated palette of timber and steel across both internal and external surfaces to balance the "resort-feel" with structural permanence.

I worked extensively on the interior design and technical specifications, ensuring that the client’s specific requests for shared family spaces were met with a high level of detail. The internal renders shown above show the result of this in-depth spatial development, covering all primary internal living areas. To achieve this, I managed the specification of all interior finishes—including custom timber joinery, high-end appliance integration, and luxury plumbing fixtures—and produced comprehensive client presentations to communicate the evolving design. With the scheme now commencing on site, my work has been instrumental in bridging the gap between the initial structural concept and the highly detailed, material-rich reality of the home.

Key Contributions

  • Stage 2 design development, establishing the early CAD layouts and 3D structural modeling.

  • Materiality and Finish Specification, coordinating the complex integration of timber and steel on internal and external surfaces.

  • Full Interior Design Package, specifying all luxury plumbing finishes, appliances, and bespoke internal joinery.

  • High-Fidelity Visualization, developing detailed internal renders of all living spaces to finalize the design with the client.

  • Client Presentations, preparing and delivering technical and aesthetic design packages for high-net-worth stakeholders.

  • Pre-Construction Coordination, resolving early-stage design details as the project transitioned to site.
